New Meter Requirements

To generate SRECs, generators must install an approved revenue-grade meter (RGM) for their solar electric PV system. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities adopted rules requiring a revenue-grade meter to be installed by November 30, 2012.

Credits are earned based on readings obtained from an RGM measuring the system output.
The accuracy of an inverter meter does not meet the ANSI C12.1-2008 accuracy standards required by the NJCEP and therefore cannot be used for the purpose of generating SRECs.

If you are unsure whether your system has a qualifying meter, check with your installer or the NJ Clean Energy Program before registering on GATs.
